Frequently Asked Questions
Submission Process
We accept hour pilots (45–100 pages) and half-hour pilots (1–45 pages).
We only accept scripts in PDF format.
Yes, there is no limit on the number of entries you may submit.
No, we only accept original pilots. Specs for existing shows are not eligible.
Unfortunately, we are not able to accept substitutions of either corrected pages or new drafts.
Feedback & Scoring
You will receive a written analysis covering story, characters, dialogue, world-building, and craft.
Feedback delivery dates are listed in the analysis schedule on the Rules page.
Pilots are scored across six categories, each rated on a scale of 1 to 10.
All pilots are read by readers personally approved by Gordy Hoffman.
Revise & Resubmit
After receiving your feedback, you may revise your pilot and resubmit it for a fresh read.
Yes, you may request the same reader, a new reader, or indicate no preference.
Each script may be resubmitted up to twice.
Prizes & Results
The Hour Pilot Winner receives $2,000 and the Half-Hour Pilot Winner receives $2,000.
Results dates are listed in the schedule on the Rules page.
Winners receive an introduction to over 400 literary managers and agents.
Payment & Rights
We accept credit and debit cards processed securely via Stripe.
Yes, always. BlueCat never claims any rights to submitted pilots.
Yes, we welcome TV writers from around the world to participate in our competition.
