BlueCat TV Writing Competition
BlueCat TV Writing Competition
You've done the work. Now let us help you take the next step.
BlueCat discovers and develops TV writers by providing complete, written script analysis on every pilot submitted. When you enter, you're not just competing — you're guaranteed professional feedback to make your script stronger.
The Competition
What Is BlueCat?
The BlueCat TV Writing Competition extends BlueCat's 27-year commitment to discovering writers into the world of television. We read every pilot submitted, deliver written feedback on every entry, and introduce our winners to the managers and agents looking for the next great TV voice.
The BlueCat Difference
What Makes BlueCat Different?
Written Feedback on Every Pilot
Every TV pilot you submit receives a written analysis from a reader personally approved by our founder. This feedback covers your story, characters, dialogue, world-building, and craft — designed to help you make your pilot stronger.
Six-Category Scoring
Your pilot is scored across six categories, each rated on a 1–10 scale, giving you a detailed picture of where your writing shines and where it can grow.
Revise & Resubmit
After receiving your feedback, you can revise your pilot and resubmit it for a fresh read — with new feedback and a new chance to advance.
A Judge Who Writes
BlueCat is judged by Gordy Hoffman, a Sundance Award-winning screenwriter and WGA member who has taught at USC and UCLA. Gordy personally approves every reader and oversees the entire feedback process.
Launching TV Careers
BlueCat TV alumni have written for Only Murders in the Building, True Detective: Night Country, Pretty Little Liars, The Morning Show, and more. They're repped by UTA, WME, and Verve.
For All Writers
Who Should Enter?
BlueCat welcomes TV writers at every level. Whether you're writing a prestige drama, a half-hour comedy, a limited series, or something that defies categorization — we want to read it. We accept hour pilots (45–100 pages) and half-hour pilots (1–45 pages).
